Tracy provides a warm, engaging space for clients to explore what brings them to therapy. She understands that reaching out for help can be difficult, and she aims to help clients feel safe and empowered to work through what keeps them stuck.
Tracy began her career as a developmental therapist in Early Intervention, working with children with autism, and brings a rich background in attachment and child development to her clinical work. She completed her internship at Breaking Free Substance Use program, providing individual and group counseling in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings, with a focus on relapse prevention, grounding techniques, managing urges, and navigating family of origin challenges.
Tracy takes an eclectic approach, drawing on client-centered principles, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She is trained in trauma-informed care and understands the impact of past experiences on the nervous system.
Tracy holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University.
Outside of work, Tracy enjoys time with her husband and two children, nature walks, reading, dancing, and karaoke nights out.
